Estimates, not advice

The figures on this site are estimates of federal, state and local income tax on lottery and gambling winnings, computed from published rules for tax year 2026. They are not tax, legal, accounting or investment advice, and no professional relationship is created by using the site. Your actual tax depends on facts the calculator does not collect — all of your income and deductions, credits, prior-year tax, residency history, how a group or entity holds the prize — and on how tax agencies and courts apply the law to you. Before acting on a large prize, consult a CPA or attorney licensed in your state and confirm withholding with the lottery that pays you.

Known simplifications

The methodology page lists what the calculator leaves out. Where a figure could not be verified, the result is labeled as an upper bound or asks you for the figure. Annuity projections assume the current year’s law for every future year; laws change.

Accuracy and changes

We work to keep every figure current and cite its source, but tax law changes, agencies revise tables, and lotteries change their withholding practices. We may update, correct or remove content at any time without notice. The verified date on each page tells you when its figures were last checked. If you find an error, please report it through the corrections form.

No warranty; limitation of liability

The site is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness or fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the publisher is not liable for any loss or damage arising from use of, or reliance on, the site or its figures, including penalties, interest or tax assessed by any authority.

You may use the calculator and share links to results for personal, non-commercial purposes. Do not attempt to disrupt the site, overload its endpoints, submit automated or abusive correction reports, or misrepresent our figures as an official determination by any lottery or tax agency.

We link to government and lottery websites as sources. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or availability.

Trademarks
